Mountain Mamas come to the Carolina Theatre August 18th to feature Bluegrass, Classic Country, and Gospel

Spruce Pine, NC - The rich history of the Carolina Barn Dances brings back memories to those who grew up listening to the radio show every Friday night during the 40s and 50s. With performers such as Patsy Cline, Bill Monroe, Hank Snow, Sonny James, Kitty Wells, Chet Atkins, and String Bean, to name just a few gracing the stage over the past years, the Carolina Theatre is now making a new come back.

On August 18th The Carolina Barn Dance presents a showcase of Mountain Mamas from across the Appalachia performing live Bluegrass, Classic Country, and Gospel.

"Many talented women have made a name for themselves and for the music we love on the Carolina Theatre stage. Now we are bringing that music and talent back to Spruce Pine," explained Melissa Graham, representative of the Caroline Theatre Preservation Association.

The Carolina Barn Dance will feature live music and award-winning talent by Michelle Leigh, Casey Perry, Barbara English, Marie Lou Wilson, Julia Ann, Linda Davis, Jody Thigpen, Debbie Sigmon, and more! The house band will be lead by Bob Lominac and the Boys from Mitchell County.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for 12yrs and under. The Carolina Barn DanceSM invites the public from both near and far to witness this historic event. For more information, please call (828)766-7573. A collection will be made to benefit those who suffered loss from the Spruce Pine fires. The Carolina Theatre is located in historic downtown "Lower Street" Spruce Pine.
